Table Manners
Hello Pals!
Table manners may be a little more comfortable than in a restaurant, but you need be a polite person as you can be even if some other guests are not. When you start from that place, thank the host for the lovely time you had with them and try to invite them to the next dinner party at your own home if you are staying in the United States, where they got more chances for them to visit your home. Even some people write thank-you notes, although it is not expected by the hosts. Likewise, there are few rules that most Americans follow while eating which can be different from other countries. People usually wait for everybody to be served before they start eating.
Do not eat noisily, keep your mouth closed while eating, and never talk with food in your mouth. Americans use their right hand to eat unless they are left handed. If you need to cut something, then set down your knife on your plate and put your fork in your right hand before you take a bite and any hand that is not being used for eating should be kept in your lap. If your table has been served wine, wait until everyone has been served before you drink. Put the knife and fork together on the plate to explain the server that the plate can be removed. Do not smoke at a table if not you are sitting in the smoking part of a restaurant and everyone with you has finished eating.
Nonalcoholic Drinks
Hello Pals!
Generally Americans won’t drink as much alcoholic beverages as people in other countries, instead of that they take additional amount of soft drinks what they consume. Actually, while talking about soft drinks, there are many regional differences for soft drinks like soda in the Northeast, cold drink in the South and pop in the West. There is also an astounding variety of soft drinks offered, and many have diet versions without sugar. Iced tea is a very popular drink and most of the restaurants will give you sugar and lemon to put in it, but in the south, it may already be too sweet. Hot tea is not a drink that Americans have very often, when they do, it is fairly sour and weak, and they drink it with lemon and sugar instead of milk. Herbal teas, such as chamomile and peppermint are fairly popular.
Similarly, coffee is a popular drink, which is well-liked other than any other drink in the United State. However, coffee shops with stronger drinks are becoming much popular all the time and Americans be likely to drink many cups of the weaker coffee, which is made in electric coffee makers, all through the day and they use the Italian words for different types of coffee drinks, cappuccino and latte. Coffee without milk is said to be “black.” If you ask for “regular” coffee in the Northeast, it will be served with milk or cream and sometimes sugar in it whereas in other places it will be black.
Supermarkets and Drinks
Hello Pals!
Generally American supermarkets are usually very big compared to any other country. Though there are many specialized food shops are available in the United States, but you can find larger supermarkets in some larger cities alone and in that you can find many specialty divisions such as deli counters and bakeries. Here you can find someone standing out at the checkout counter to help you by putting your groceries in bags or addressing you the exact thing what you are searching for. It is a place where you cannot find anything like blackcurrant flavored and squashes. If you want something close to blackcurrant then try grape juice, especially Concord grape juice. Squash is a gourd, not a concentrated drink, in the United States.
Soft drinks can be bought almost anywhere, but alcoholic drinks are not supposed to be. Each state has different rules about when and where you can purchase alcohol, and it also depends on whether it is a beer, wine, or liquor. In fact, people in New York buy beer, wine, and liquor only in special stores whereas people in Washington can only buy liquor at a nationalized liquor store, but they can purchase beer and wine in supermarkets and California people can buy all types of alcohol in a grocery store. The timing of the bars are also depends on the state and in some states there are “dry counties” where you can not buy any alcohol, anywhere, anytime and at any period.
